After fifteen years, North Wind Arabians is closing. We are not under duress, not in a hurry to disperse, not having a fire sale. What we are doing, is going out of business. We will probably keep three or four of our favorite mares as pets and friends but we will offer horses not previously available if we find the right buyer at the right price. If you have any interest in a horse not previously available, please email me at path@northwindarabians.com I will keep the old website in tact during this closing so the information about the lines I am breeding will not be lost.
People ask me why the Abayyan Um Jurrays strain?
It is absolutely critical in any breeding program large or small, that the breeder strive to create the horse that is ideal to his vision. My vision of the Arabian horse is that of a creature beautiful enough to be art, but with a heart and soul that embodies all the best traits of humanity and none of the worst. The horse should be large and strong enough to carry a rider all day and all night through difficult terrain, athletic enough to race, trail, work cattle or perform dressage. A horse should be a partner and friend, one who regards himself as your equal, who gives himself to you by choice out of love and friendship, a horse who will stand by you in good times and bad. That is what I have found in these Abayyan horses, they are the present day embodiment of their war horse ancestors. They are not for everyone; they are individuals with a strong sense of self. They are generally happy do as you ask but have little tolerance for human meanness and will not tolerate being abused. They give themselves, heart and soul to the people they love and watch over and care for them. They are horses of true desert temperament - fiery of spirit but kind, loving, and protective of their people.
These special and wonderful Abayyans trace to Marah through the Poth bred and Glennloch imported mare, *UP Marfa and to Hanan through Ghazala.
Ramses Elite, our premier broodmare, is of the Hanan line of the Abayyan strain. She has many traits in common with our Marah line mares including excellent structure, good feet, plenty of size and a wonderful temperament. She is also very low Ansata and can produce those outcross foals with extreme type. Elite has a particularly lovely neck and shoulder and outstanding legs, which she imparts to her foals. She is a kind and gentle soul, as beautiful inside as outside. You can lose yourself in her huge, dark eyes. Elite is in foal to El Masr Arabians beautiful EAI Silvereen for end of June, 2007 and is booked to Rancho Bulakenyo's legendary stallion Imperial Al Kamar for 2008.
Though we let Ahmar's older daughter, the beautiful Bishaarah go overseas, we have retained her younger daughter Aliha Juahara. She is a big, powerful mare with a sweet, loving temperament. Juahara is under saddle and is a generally quiet and thoughtful mount, going easily through water, on alert when she is the lead horse on trails and relaxed when following. At 15.2 hands and the with the body of an athlete, Juahara should produce exceptional foals. We plan to breed her to Rancho Bulakenyo's outstanding stallion Imperial Al Kamar in the spring of 2008 for her first foal.
Our beloved foundation mare, MA Ahmar came to us in 1997 and consistently produced foals of extreme beauty, athletic ability, size and intelligence. Never was a horse more loved than Ahmar and losing her in January of 2007 was one of the most difficult and painful experiences of my life.
Meet Our Young Stallions!

Al Jasiim, a stunning 2005 stallion of the Hanan line of Abayyan Um Jurrays is by Shahin el Masr (Anaza El Nizr x Mariah El Masr) out of Ramses Elite (Prince Ibn Shaikh x Ramses Elite). When Jasiim comes of age, he will become one of our breeding stallions. We expect him to produce his many wonderful characteristics in his foals as he is exactly what he was bred to be.

Jasiim's perfect compliment is Bishaarah's 2006 bay colt, Bey Bishr. He should mature at fifteen hands with his mother's exotic head and a very athletic body. Having a second Abayyan Um Jurrays stallion of the Marah line, we should be well set to breed these rare Abayyan horses in strain without close in-breeding. We are very excited about what the future holds for us and for these rare and wonderful horses! |
